Kirby Perkins Purchases Workboat to Serve Island Based Projects
Newport, RI - July 2017 - Kirby Perkins Construction announced that it has purchased a 38 ft. aluminum hull catamaran to facilitate construction projects on islands off the New England coast including private residences, clubhouses and other commercial projects.
The boat weighs 9 tons and is powered by twin 300 horsepower Yamaha engines. It is licensed by the US Coast Guard to carry 20 passengers and crew plus equipment and it is capable of offloading at a dock or on the shore.
“This vessel will allow us to better serve our east coast shoreline and island clients on a year round basis” said Jerry Kirby, principal and founder of Kirby Perkins Construction. “It allows us to control our own schedule as opposed to having to work around the schedule of commercial ferries or worrying about bridge closures or delays. This is a significant competitive advantage for us.”
